Roll cages trackday and FIA

Roll Cages or anti-wheel bars greatly prevent the carrossery of the vehicle from deforming in case of turning or impact. In this way, minimize the possible damages that the occupants of the vehicle may suffer by avoiding that these may be trapped within the vehicle or that they may cause wounds due to the deformation of the carrossery.

According to the activity to which the vehicle is intended, the firearms are a highly recommended passive safety element. We do not only need anti-wheel bars if we use our vehicle for trial tests 4x4 rally competitions are also recommended if we want to perform amateur orientation tests with 4x4, tandas on speed circuits or if we simply want to travel in family by areas with roads in bad state or inexistent.

Anti-wire bars are usually formed by a tubular structure of circular section steel tubes formed by a series of arcs and shooters or sold to each other and connected to the basin and/or the carrossery of the vehicle.

Vehicles with independent chassis, as can be some 4x4 and trucks, the bars should anchor directly to the chassis, as the carrossery has not the resistance enough to endure the efforts produced on the bars by a possible turning. In vehicles with self-porting chassis, the bars are anchored directly to the most resistant points of the structure.

Anti-wheel bars can be installed inside or outside the carrossery of the vehicle, and in this latter case they can also have one or more interior arcs.

IT IS OUR RESCUE IN CASE OF A RAILWAY ACCIDENT

The safety structures, which are currently mandatory in competition vehicles participating in official competitions under FIA regulations, are intended to protect occupants in case of accidents, particular in case of turning or shock.

In the cars that must pass technical verification are required and must comply with Annex J FIA, at the end of this page you can access the link of the FIA norms by clicking on "know more details".

In the vehicles that practice tandas or trackdays are usually highly recommended, in an official competition it is of mandatory use to guarantee our own safety in case of accidents with or without turning, therefore you have to be aware that although they do not force us in free tandas, it is an accessory that we shouldn’t have to pass over because it’s our saviors in case of accident.

In addition, it is not only for our safety, but also the assembly of an antivulk bars significantly strengthens the chassis making it more consistent and compact, the chassis of origin tends to have some flexibility to provide passengers' walking comfort, if we run on a circuit and don't carry bars, the chassis will be subjected structurally the torsional forces and this will gradually weaken.

TYPES OF ROLL CAGS

Within the antivulcs or roll cages we can find 2 general groups:

Track Day Line , to ride on vehicles that will circulate normally on the street and have to pass ITV inspections

Motorsport series FIA to mount exclusively in cars that will circulate outside roads in circuits

Although both divisions are very similar, they are very different because one is intended to be used in street tourisms and must comply with certain rules to be legalized and homologated to pass ITV inspections, these must try to torture and/or interfere with the occupants of the vehicle. At all times a perfect visibility should be mantenined and that this should not be affected or at least, and cannot interfere with the original equipment safety belt.

Instead in the FIA roll cages, the structures are usually more complex and there are often various variants that have more tubes and diagonal than in the roll cages track day, even security can be strengthened with the integration of cross-type bars on the doors, reinforced downs, cross-cross roof bars etc.The competition is governed by the regulations FIA it regulates the form of the minimum structures that must meet the roll cages to be able to compete in official races.

It must be noted that in the FIA roll cages the pilot and copilot go much more protected thanks to the use of FIA bakets, arneses, helmets and clothing seats, as well as FIA homologated clothes so that the helm does not touch directly with the metal tubes, so more complex structures can be used

Track Day Line (Legal Street)

The Roll Cages Street legal is mainly characterized by being homologable cages, i.e. a priori comply with the regulations to circulate through the public road, however, to avoid unforeseen surprises, we advise all users to contact a homologer to consult the conditions and requirements that are required at the ITV stations of each Autonomous Community.

In most cases they can be homologated, but depending on the ITV station and the inspector who makes the inspection, it can be more strict than another and more meticulous when qualifying the project, therefore, before giving by seat that can be homologated, please consult with a homologer.

In the Track Day Line series, we can find two groups:

Cages and Full Cages

Rear Cages Track Day (Legal Street)

The Rear Cages are four-point backs, recommended for vehicles whose users seek a security plus to participate in sports tests, circuit training tandas and circuit track days without giving up losing the daily use of the vehicle.

For these cases, a homologer should be consulted to legalize the installation, with the rear arcs it is necessary to cancel the rear places in the technical file.

All structures are delivered with the necessary reinforcement plates to weld in the carrossery on which the structure is turning.

Full Cages Track Day (Legal Street)

The Full Cages are 6 points arcs generally that are delivered as two semi-arcs already sold previously in the factory and are sent in a palet to be mounted then in the interior of the car and unite both parts with fixing tubes and passing legs with autoblocating tires, the full roll cages can also be homologated to circulate by street but it is more difficult to legalize than the Rear cages because they have to meet a series of more strict conditions stop not damaging the occupants of the vehicle. You can see the conditions for homologating the full roll cages in this link

Motorsport series FIA

AST ROLL GAGES

The FIA Motorsport Series is indicated for all those vehicles that taking part in competitions under FIA regulations, must meet the requirements required in Annex J to the FIA

In the motorsport cage, we can find 3 variants, Bolt in, Weld in, or Multipoints

The cage BOLT IN they are 6 points structures already welded with each other, so that the customer introduces them in the car without having to do subsequent welding operations.By default, they are served in 2 semiarks, front arc and back arc, they are sent to destination in a palet by truck in transport.

The cage THE WORLD IN they are 6 points structures and are provided as a kit of loose bars so that the customer can weld them in a specialized AST workshop.

AST - Bolt In - WELD IN

Multi-point cages are more complex, they are 8-point structures that usually have prolongations to the front torrents of the vehicle, they are for FIA-superior competitions in which more complex structures are needed with a greater protection and a more considerable and compact chassis reinforcement together.
